Muskox soup? Wow - you're learning some interesting new recipes, huh? I've never tried musk ox, but I do like reindeer hot dogs and reindeer sausage. I recommend them if you can get them there.
Where do you buy food? Do you have a grocery store there?
I didn't make the soup. One of the native women in the village gave me and my housemate a bag of frozen soup. I hope to try polar bear stew in the winter! :)
We have two stores, technically. One is more of a snack shop. The store has very little in it. I've never seen anything perishable in the store. We bought our food from a store in Nome (which is much more expensive) and took it out with us on the crab boat. We also bought food at Wal-Mart in Anchorage and mailed it out in boxes. A couple of weeks ago we made a $1,000 order from SPAN Alaska, a grocery store that is geared towards bush AK.
